What is CSEC and Sex Trafficking?

Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC), also known as sex trafficking, is trading any sexual activity for anything of value. It sometimes involves:

Anyone Can be a Victim

They can be female, male, transgender, or gender non-conforming. There’s no shame in being a victim. If you are trying to help your friend, don’t do it alone. You don’t want to put yourself in danger by trying to help them. Connect them to resources instead.

Be Aware

A trafficker can be a stranger, a classmate, someone you know, or a family member. He or she might:

Message you via social media or online
Approach you at the mall, beach park, bus stop, parking lots, or on the street
Pose as your love interest
Blackmail you with your "nudes" or explicit photos
Manipulate you into feeling forced to do sexual acts to support/provide for your family

If you need help, tell someone.

This could be your teacher, school counselor, a trusted adult, or even your doctor. You can also contact any of the resources below.
